Portable Swamp Coolers

Evaporative Air Coolers, also known as swamp coolers, do not use a compressor or condenser. Instead they cool by the process of evaporating water, releasing the vapor into the cooled area.

Advantages of Swamp Coolers: These coolers are very cost effective and often only use a quarter of the energy of an air conditioner. Swamp Coolers also tend to be less noisy than refrigeration type coolers. Portable Swamp Coolers have the advantage of not needing hoses to vent heat outside the cooling area, making them truly portable.

Disadvantages of Swamp Coolers: In humid areas, swamp coolers are much less effective and can raise humidity to uncomfortable levels. Swamp Coolers work more gradually than air-conditioners. If you demand a blast of cold air and instant cooling, a traditional air conditioner may be the best choice.
